Our social approach in the spotlight in *De Tijd*
We’re proud that De Tijd is highlighting our approach and showing how we work together to create opportunities for people who want to grow.

A resume tells you where someone comes from, but not always where they can go. At A-kwadraat , we believe every day in what becomes possible when people are given that chance. We are all the more proud that *De Tijd* is highlighting this approach in an article about helping people on welfare find work in Turnhout, in which our colleague Sharon Verhoeven is also featured.
The path to employment begins with an opportunity
“Since unemployment benefits became subject to time limits on January 1, the number of people receiving welfare benefits in our country has risen to over 200,000. As a result, for the first time, there are more people receiving welfare benefits than unemployment benefits,”the article states.
But the transition to employment isn’t equally straightforward for everyone. Sometimes there are additional barriers. Sometimes it takes more time. And sometimes it’s precisely that personalized guidance that makes all the difference. The article in *De Tijd* demonstrates once again that helping people find long-term employment requires much more than simply matching a job opening with a candidate.
That’s exactly what we’re focusing on at A-kwadraat with our “Growth to Permanent Employees” program.“It requires a lot of consultation and patience. But we’re convinced that this personalized approach, with plenty of guidance, gives people another chance in the workplace,”says Sharon Verhoeven of A-kwadraat in *De Tijd*.
Social impact is something we create together
Inclusive entrepreneurship isn't something you do alone. It requires collaboration between people and organizations that are willing to provide opportunities and continue to believe in them.
Our partnership with Astra Sweets is a great example of this. We’ve been working together for years and have come a long way together. That’s why it’s especially gratifying to see that partnership highlighted in the article in *De Tijd*. It shows what’s possible when a company, the OCMW, and a social enterprise for customized work such as A-kwadraat join forces to support a project.
