Looking back with gratitude, looking ahead with confidence

After many years, A-kwadraat will A-kwadraat be saying goodbye to Staf, who will be enjoying his well-deserved retirement, and to Jan, who is passing the director’s baton to Anje and will continue to work for another year in a different role. These are two significant moments that we’d like to highlight.

How do they look back on their careers? What made working at A-kwadraat ? And what do they wish for their colleagues in the future? We’ll let Jan and Staf speak for themselves.

“When I look back on nearly forty years A-kwadraat, I feel, above all, gratitude. For the journey we’ve taken together and the milestones we’ve reached. For the small moments that are just as meaningful. As an organization, we make a difference every day, and being a part of that means a lot to me.

For the first ten years, I was right on the front lines, working alongside my colleagues. That direct contact, that spontaneity—that’s always been my natural habitat. As A-kwadraat grew A-kwadraat I took on the role of director, the distance increased somewhat, but that warm feeling remained. The fact that people still just call me “Jan,” that someone will wave or say something personal… that really touches a person.

“Now that I’m passing the torch to Anje, it feels good to know that A-kwadraat will remain A-kwadraat the hands of people who believe in what we do. Staying adaptable, staying true to our values, and putting people first in every decision—that has always been our strength. And I know it will remain that way.”
